KONCAB “KALANJALI 2014” – The Annual Talent Show of Bangalore Konkans
The Annual Talent Show of All Konkani Catholic Associations of Bangalore – Organized by KON-CAB was held at St.Francis Xavier Girls High School Hall, Frazer Town Bangalore on Sunday, 2nd November 2014.
The program started on a pious note with a prayer to St.Anthony, the patron saint of KON-CAB at 10.00 am. Mrs. Sylviya Rodrigues lead the inaugural prayer along with the Executive Committee of KON-CAB and prayed for the success of the program. KON-CAB President Mrs. Ida Sequeira formally inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp, accompanied by Secretary Mr. Jhonas D’Souza, Cultural Secretary Mr.Arun Fernandes, former presidents Mr. Sunil D’Cunha and Mr.Anup Saldanha, EC members Mr. Steven D’Silva and Dr. Tony Lucas.

The program started with Konkani singing competitions. There were various age groups in solo singing. Old and new melodies rendered by the contestants of all ages took the audience to another world. This year’s new addition, the Duet singing competition was enjoyed by the audience. Konkani Group Singing competition was a great hit among the audience.
Singing was followed by Fancy dress competition for various age groups which showcased the new and innovative ideas and literally took the audience agape with astonishment. Then it was time for the Dance competitions for above 35 years category where Konkani song is a must for the dance. Immediately after this was the short Konkani Comedy Skit competition which was enjoyed by the packed crowd in the auditorium. This was followed by Inter-Association dance competition for children upto 7th Std and also 8th Std and above categories which everyone was eagerly waiting for. The performance levels are reaching the heights every year and the audience enjoyed every bit of it.
The competitors were judged by well qualified and experienced people who were masters in their respective fields. While Mr. Fidel D’Souza, Dr.Tony Lucas, Ms.Joanna Dawala, Mrs.Benedicta D’Souza, Ms.Sharel Pinto, Mr. Vincent D’Paul Fernandes, Mr. Valerian Quadros and Mr. Rony D’Sa shared the responsibility of judging the singing, fancy dress and comedy skit competitions, Mr. Xavier, Ms.Ree and Mr.Dominic Mascarenhas did the honors for dance competitions.

Chief guest Mr.Austin Roach was accompanied by Guest of honor Mr.Edward Victor D’Souza – the FKCA Chairman, KONCAB President Mrs. Ida Sequeira, Secretary Mr. Jhonas D’Souza and Presidents of all Konkani Associations of Bangalore on the dias for the final leg of the function. KON-CAB President Mrs. Ida Sequeira honoured the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour and also the Presidents of other Konkani Catholic Associations of Bangalore.
The Chief Guest in his speech lauded the efforts of KON-CAB in arranging such a mega event, for the past 19 years. He also appreciated the performance of the participants and observed that the quality of program was getting better year after year.
Eight deserving children of the members of KON-CAB were honored and given meritorious awards for excelling in Academics, Sports and Fine arts.

BKCS – Koramangala bagged the “Most Talented Team” rolling trophy for winning the highest points. Sezari Bommanahalli stood second on the points table and hosts KON-CAB stood third.
The program was compered by Mr. N.A.D’Silva with able support from Mr. Sunil D’Cunha and young MC Mr. Vernon.
KON-CAB Secretary, Mr. Jhonas D’Souza proposed the Vote of Thanks and the full day entertainment program drew to a close at 6.30 pm.
