Konkani Retreat and Blood Donation Camp by KONCAB during Lenten Season

Dear KONCAB Members,                                                                                                     

Greetings from the President, Secretary and Executive Committee of KONCAB!

Like every year, we are glad to organize the annual retreat during the Lenten Season. The one day retreat in Konkaniwill be held on 9th March 2014 at Ascension Church Hall from 9am to 5pm. We hope that this retreat will help you spiritually during the Lenten season.

We will also be organizing a blood donation camp on 16th March 2014 at Jyothi High School premises at Kacharakanahalli from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm in association with TTK Blood Bank. Do participate in large numbers in this noble cause and help save lives. Also, get your friends including non-Christians who are willing to donate blood.   ( dos and don'ts for blood donation)

We are proud that our Konkan Welfare Trust Samudai Bhavan (KWT is a Trust jointly formed by KONCAB and KCA) building work is progressing well. Please make some time to visit the building if you have not yet done so. The building is diagonally behind the Royal Concord School on outer ring road in Kalyananagar. We are sure you will feel proud of the work so far. We hope that the building can be completed soon. But there is shortage of funds to complete the remaining work. Please be generous and help us complete this building at the earliest. Remember, this is our community building. Attached are a couple of pictures of the building as on date.

KALANJALI 2013- The Annual Talent Show of Bangalore Konkans

KALANJALI 2013 - The Annual Talent Show of All Konkani Catholic Associations of Bangalore was organized by KON-CAB, at St. Francis Xavier Girls High School Hall, Frazer Town Bangalore 560 005, on Sunday 17th November 2013.






The program started at 10.00 a.m with a pious prayer to St. Anthony, the patron saint of KON-CAB. Mrs. Severine D’Silva led the inaugural prayer along with the Executive Committee of KON-CAB and prayed for the success of the program. KON-CAB President Mrs. Ida Sequeira formally inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp, accompanied by Secretary Mr. Jhonas D’Souza, Cultural Secretary Mr.Arun Fernandes, Mrs. Philomena Peris – a KONCAB well-wisher and KCWA R.T.Nagar President Mr. Edward D’Souza.

The program started with Konkani singing competition. Old and new melodies sung by the contestants of all ages took the delighted audience into the nostalgic grand era of the immortal melodies of Konkan Kogul Late Wilfy Rebimbus, Henry D’Souza, Mic Max, Melwin Peris & Claud to name a few. Konkani Group Singing competition was a great hit among the audience, this year. The Singing competition was followed by Baila Dance  and Dance for above 35 years category wherein, Konkani songs is a mandatory criteria for the dances.

KONCAB “Yuva Milan” a Grand Success

KONCAB “Yuva Milan” a Grand Success

Bangalore: Konkani Catholic Association, Bangalore, organized a half-day ‘Yuva Milan’ Konkani youth get-together on Sunday September 22 at KROSS Hall, near Da Costa Layout, St Thomas Town, here.

The event started with the prayer by Severine D’Silva and welcome message by Koncab president Ida Sequeira.
Large number of Konkani youths actively participated in this event and pledged to work for Konkani community and to build strong youth wing.

Fr Anil D’sa sdb, director of Don Bosco Youth Service was the main resource person and animator for the day who took special interactive session on team work and team building activities.

To help youngsters in career building and to motivate more catholic youths into civil service, job postings in government sector, Chris L Bernard, chief mentor of KROSS Institute of Social Service, took special session on the topic ‘Social change through civil services’. The initiative was taken under the guidance of Fr Peter Brank, director- KROSS (Karnataka Regional Organization for Social Service).

Yuva Milan concluded with a special youth Mass.

Koncab secretary Jhonas D’Souza thanked the chief guests, all supporters, Koncab EC team and the gathering.

The event was compered and coordinated by Godwin Castelino.
