The persistent rain at Bangalore which was started due to the depression in the Bay of Bengal had taken a break as if to allow for the Annual Talent Show of All Konkani Catholic Associations of Bangalore – Organized by KON-CAB. Kalanjali 2015 was held at St.Francis Xavier Girls High School Hall, Frazer Town Bangalore 560005 on Sunday, 8th November 2015.
The program started on a pious note with a prayer to St.Anthony, the patron saint of KON-CAB at 10.00 am. Mrs. Sylviya Rodrigues lead the inaugural prayer along with the Executive Committee of KON-CAB and prayed for the success of the program. KON-CAB President Mr. Jhonas D’Souza formally inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp, accompanied by Secretary Mrs. Nora Menezes, Cultural Secretary Mr. Steven D’Silva, former presidents Mrs. Ida Sequeira, Mr. Sunil D’Cunha and two members from the audience.
President Jhonas D’Souza in his opening address mentioned that Kalanjali has been successful in fulfilling 4 key objectives: Bringing the Bangalore Konkani Catholics together, Providing a platform for Bangalore Konkans to showcase their talent, Keeping alive the Mangalorean culture and promoting our mother tongue Konkani among new generation. He thanked all Konkani Associations in Bangalore for their full support and participation. He wished all the participants, best of luck in their competitions.

The program started with Konkani singing competitions. There were various age groups in solo singing. Old and new melodies rendered by the contestants of all ages took the audience to another world. The Duet Singing competition and Group Singing competition were a great hit among the audience.
Singing was followed by Fancy dress competition for various age groups which showcased the new and innovative ideas and literally kept the audience mesmerized. Then it was time for the Dance competitions for above 35 years category where Konkani song is a must for the dance. The Konkani Comedy Skit competition kept the audience entertained to the fullest. This was followed by Inter-Association dance competitions for children and youth categories which everyone was eagerly waiting for. The performance levels are reaching the new heights every year and the audience enjoyed every bit of it.
The competitors were judged by well qualified and experienced people who were masters in their respective fields. While Mr. Adrian D’Souza, Mr.Senek D’Souza and Sr. Nancy shared the responsibility of judging the singing, Mr.Charles Gomes, Mrs.Albina Vaz and Mrs.Dorothy Lsrado did the honors for Fancy dress and comedy skit competitions. Mr. Xavier, Ms.Rene Krishna, Mrs. SriVani Murugan and Mr.Alan Noronha.judged the dance competitions.
In the concluding stage program, Chief guest Mr.Mark D’Souza was accompanied by Presiding Officer Mr.Victor Edward D’Souza – the FKCA Chairman, KONCAB President Mr. Jhonas D’Souza, Secretary Mrs.Nora Menezes and Guests of honor, the Presidents of all Konkani Associations of Bangalore graced the dias. KON-CAB President Mr. Jhonas D’Souza, honoured the Chief Guest, Presiding officer and all the Guests of Honour with flowers.
The Chief Guest in his speech lauded the efforts of KON-CAB in arranging such a mega event, for the past 20 years. He also appreciated the performance of the participants and observed that the quality of program was getting better year after year. He suggested that we must also have competition for Konkani Speech so that children and youth get a chance to improve their Konkani Language skills.
Ten deserving children of the members of KON-CAB were honored and given meritorious awards for excelling in Academics, Sports and Fine arts.

BKCS – Koramangala and Sezari Bommanahalli were tied at the top spot to bag the “Most Talented Team” rolling trophy jointly. KONCAB and SAKK Marathahalli were tied to share the next spot in the points table.
The program was compered by Mr. Sylvester D’Souza with able support from Mr. Vernon D’Souza and Miss Rachel Machado.
KON-CAB Secretary, Mrs. Nora Menezes proposed the Vote of Thanks and the full day entertainment program drew to a close at 7.00 pm.
